As an employee of the City of Santa Ana, you're constantly called upon to speak to the public.  Whether you're dealing with a customer one-on-one, or making a presentation to a large group, COSA Communicators, the Toastmasters International club exclusively for Santa Ana employees, is here to help.

Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped millions of men and women become better communicators and leaders. At COSA Communicators you will learn-by-doing in a fun and supportive environment with your own co-workers.

COSA member Waldo Barela
Toastmasters will give you the skills and confidence you need to effectively express yourself in any situation. Whether you are explaining a code enforcement issue to a homeowner, dealing with a co-worker or your supervisor, or making a formal presentation, Toastmasters can teach you the skills you will need to become a more effective employee. By learning to formulate and express your ideas, you open an entirely new world of possibilities. You’ll be more persuasive and confident when giving presentations, and you’ll improve your one-on-one dealings with others.

By attending a weekly meeting and working at your own pace on a variety of speaking and leadership programs you will build confidence with each assignment.  When you join you will receive two manuals, the Competent Communicator manual and the Competent Leadership manual.  You'll also be assigned a mentor who will be available to answer any questions and encourage you along the way.  You'll also receive feedback on your speeches.  Constructive evaluation is the heart of the Toastmasters program. Each time you give a prepared speech, an evaluator will point out strengths and suggest improvements. When you complete a project your efforts will be acknowledged by awards and club recognition.  Our meetings are friendly and supportive, and fun!  We guarantee that you'll leave each meeting feeling good about yourself.
